From wrestling to opera!
In an event at Caserne Dalhousie, Le Diamant General Manager and Programmer Bernard Gilbert, accompanied by Director and project initiator Robert Lepage, announced the programming for the inaugural season of Le Diamant theatre. From September to November 2019, the new venue will host seven performing arts shows spanning genres from circus to theatre and puppetry to wrestling—a versatile selection with something for everyone.
As part of the programming announcement for Le Diamant’s inaugural season, Bernard Gilbert, General Manager and Programmer, took a moment to thank the many new and longstanding partners whose generosity has helped make Le Diamant a leading cultural institution.
Le Diamant to Receive a Work of Art by Multidisciplinary Artist Claudie Gagnon
Le Diamant General Manager and Programming Director Bernard Gilbert and director and project initiator Robert Lepage announced the artist chosen as part of the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communication Integration Policy for the Arts in Architecture and the Environment. The selected artist is Claudie Gagnon, a well-known multidisciplinary artist originally from Montreal and based in Quebec City. Her work Atome ou le fruit des étoiles will be installed on the building’s facade above the main entrance on Saint-Jean Street.
Le Diamant Now 70% Completed
Le Diamant General Manager and Programmer, Bernard Gilbert, and director and project initiator, Robert Lepage, presented a report on the progress of Le Diamant’s construction. A guided tour through the site followed, led by Bernard Gilbert and architect Alain Tousignant, a representative of the consortium Coarchitecture/In Situ/Jacques Plante architectes. Four months ahead of the completion date and as planned in the final project schedule, more than 70% of the future Diamant has now been completed.
Fundraising Campaign reaches 2,25 millions dollars
L’équipe du Diamant est fière d’annoncer des contributions à sa campagne de financement privé totalisant 2,25 M$, en provenance d’organisations et de personnalités bien connues dans la grande région de Québec. En considérant l’objectif de 10 M$ fixé au lancement de la campagne, près de 70% des fonds privés ont été recueillis à ce jour.
