Description

Sophie Faucher and Marc Hervieux have come together to create a unique and original project on the life and career of Maria Callas. Sophie Faucher will play this larger-than-life character in Une voix pour être aimée : Maria Callas, which will be presented starting in Fall 2023 to mark the 100th anniversary of her birth. In addition to directing the show, Marc Hervieux will play her good friend Giuseppe Di Stefano, the tenor with whom the diva completed her last tour.

Maria Callas was an eminent singer and a passionate, tormented woman. We find her in her Paris apartment in the summer of 1977, where she lived as a recluse in profound solitude. That day, she has guests: her piano accompanist, Robert Sutherland, and her friend Giuseppe Di Stefano. With them, she delves into her recordings under the pretense of telling them the story of her life—a life that oscillates painfully between international glory and her burning love for Aristotle Onassis, who left her for Jackie Kennedy, plunging her into a deep grief from which she never recovered.

Sophie Faucher and Anne Bryan are the co-authors of Une voix pour être aimée : Maria Callas. Both romantic and heartbreaking, this story is supported by music and archives that transport us right to the heart of the world of the passionaria.

After Frida Kahlo Correspondance, Sophie Faucher is preparing once again to tackle another challenge that’s tailor-made for her, playing alongside Marc Hervieux, who passionately slides into the skin of tenor Di Stefano.
