Description

Both a circus show and a live concert, Après la nuit invites spectators on a sensory journey where the power of aerial acrobatics brings to life the musical universe of the Anglo-Montreal group CHANCES, a trio blending electro, pop, and world music sounds.

A grand-scale production, “Après la nuit” features around ten circus artists and dancers among the most prominent of their generation, in addition to the three musicians. A natural and intuitive connection is established in this show between music and acrobatic movement. The songs materialize and take on new dimensions.

Après la nuit speaks of the desire to live and the fire to cultivate, of insatiable curiosity, and profound transformations that occur in the night. This show is a celebration of our common humanity, at a time when our minds are sorely lacking in horizon and space. It deals with dreams, our greatest creative force. Dreams, imagination, poetry will be at the heart of our resistance as humanity. It is a show that speaks to the senses and to what universally connects us, a resolutely luminous show.

Après la nuit adapted for Le Diamant

Developed over two years during the pandemic, Après la nuit was created by director Benoit Landry (Serge Fiori – Alone Together from Cirque Éloize), at the invitation of TOHU for its large circular room and presented for the first time in the summer of 2022 at the opening of the Montreal Complètement Cirque festival. The show will be specially adapted for Le Diamant in a frontal configuration.

Reviews

« (...) A completely captivating mix of concert and circus performance. (…) The aerial acts — featuring aerial straps, trapeze, and rope — are top-notch, each as impressive as the next. »

Journal de Montréal

« From the very beginning, Après la nuit leans more toward dream than wakefulness, featuring a flying-fairy act — Angelica Bongiovonni — who seems to emerge from a magical world, set to music that is both atmospheric and mysterious. The rest of the show follows suit, alternating aerial and ground acts to, one can imagine, give the audience’s necks a well-deserved break!  »

La Presse

« (...) The artists move through a dreamlike world, enhanced by lighting effects that evoke nocturnal landscapes (...)  »
